Asthma

Asthma is a condition that inflames and narrows the airways, making it difficult for people to breathe air in and out of the lungs. People with asthma have sensitive airways which react to certain triggers which can set of their asthma. Airways swell and become thick with mucus whilst the muscles around the airways squeeze tight, making it very hard to breathe.

People with asthma experience a range of the following symptoms including:

• Breathlessness
• Wheezing
• Chest tightness
• Persistent coughing - often at night or early in the morning or during/after physical activity
